Overberg, directly translated meaning “over the mountain”, is a region in South Africa to the east of Cape Town tucked between the Hottentots-Holland mountains. It lies along the Western Cape Province’s south coast between the Cape Peninsula and the region known as the Garden Route in the east. Come and join us and Visit Overberg!

The area is affectionately known as the breadbasket of the Cape and is largely given to grain farming which creates a major breeding ground for South Africa’s national bird, the blue crane. Fruit is also farmed in the Overberg and the region is the second largest supplier of fruit in the country.

In the Overberg you can also find the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO site, populated with a large diversity of flowering plants not found anywhere else in the fynbos kingdom. The region also includes Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa!

Many quaint and interesting towns dot this hilly countryside enclosed by mountains and the ocean. The area is perfectly suited to a quiet breakaway from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far from Cape Town. Come and join us and Visit Overberg!

Witness the beauty of South African culture at Visit Overberg!

Every country has something unique to offer, and we at Visit Overberg have been working for the past few years to tell people more about South African culture and the district of Overberg.

We decided to start our website several years ago because it’s our dream to tell people about South Africa and to immerse them in the culture. So, we decided to upload blogs and publication materials that would help them learn more about the country.

Promoting our hometown and district of Overberg is also something that we wanted to pursue. It’s actually an underrated place to visit and it has a lot of hidden gems. Tourists don’t know just how many activities they can try and adventures they can go on.

With all of the publications that we have made, we were so glad to have gained more followers over the years. Soon enough, we were able to hire more people to run our blog and actually speak with our readers.

It’s our dream to open a tour agency in the future and personally guide tourists in their vacations to Overberg and other places in South Africa.

So, now that you know more about us and why you should visit Overberg, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Our website is easily accessible and you should be able to read all sorts of blogs and other publication materials that will help you get a better idea of what to expect in Overberg and South Africa as a whole.

Please feel free to reach out to us and we will get back to you. We love getting feedback and questions from our customers so simply send us a message via email! Until then, we hope to see you here in South Africa very soon!

What makes South Africa so special

There are lots of premier vacation spots around the world, but we at Visit Overberg want you to know just what it’s like to stay in South Africa for a while, even if it’s on vacation.

One of the things that makes South Africa special is the location. Cape Town along with other neighbouring areas is a paradise on earth. You will find yourself in awe of the many different locations both natural and man-made.

From huge mountains to miles and miles of lush greenery and savannas, there is no denying that your breath will be taken by the beautiful sights. The same goes for the gorgeous animals that are rare sights to see.

The culture of South Africa is also a special one. The country has developed so well over the past few decades and millions of people now come over to spend their vacations in various parts of the country. Some tourists experience culture shock because they have never experienced staying in South Africa for an extended amount of time.
