Bredasdorp is located 187 kilometers from Cape Town on the N2 and about 39 kilometers north of Cape Agulhas, Africa’s most southern point.  Founded in 1838 Bredasdorp lays claim to being South Africa’s first town and it is the agricultural and economic nerve centre of the Cape Agulhas region.

Tourists discovering Bredasdorp for the first time should treat themselves to a visit to South Africa’s only Shipwreck Museum.  Other places of interest are Kapula Candles and Julian’s Pottery & Restaurant. If you are interested in church history the village has more than 20 to explore.  For the nature lover the Heuningberg Nature Reserve is definite must visit, offering stunning scenery and a chance to find the rare Bredasdorp Lily. Heading further out of town the De Hoop Nature Reserve is a spectacular  destination and the Elim wine route makes for a lovely wine adventure.
