Botriver is located 93 km’s southeast from Cape Town, on the N2 heading to Caledon. The small town is rather easy to drive past without giving it a thought. But what a mistake you will make.
The town provides a great base to discover the region, a highlight being the award winning wine estates in the area. Go on a wine tour and visit estates such as, Barton, Luddite, Wildekrans, Beaumont and more. Enjoy great cuisine at top restaurants such as Gabriëlskloof or kick back with a cold beer and a good steak at the local Botriver Hotel or the Shutin Shed. Both regularly host live music and are a fun night out. Talking about beer… The Honingklip brewery is just a few minutes out of town and a pure craft beer treat.
For the outdoor enthusiast there are a variety of activities nearby to explore. Hiking, mountain biking, horse riding and fly fishing are on top of the to do list. But it the personality and passion of the locals that shine bright, warm and inviting. This is a village with big steady Overberg heartbeat. Events such as the annual Botriver Challenge, Barrel Fest or Spring Harvest Celebration are not to be missed. Local is definitely “lekker” in Botriver!
