Overberg, directly translated meaning “over the mountain”, is a region in South Africa to the east of Cape Town tucked between the Hottentots-Holland mountains. It lies along the Western Cape Province’s south coast between the Cape Peninsula and the region known as the Garden Route in the east. Come and join us and Visit Overberg!

The area is affectionately known as the breadbasket of the Cape and is largely given to grain farming which creates a major breeding ground for South Africa’s national bird, the blue crane. Fruit is also farmed in the Overberg and the region is the second largest supplier of fruit in the country.

In the Overberg you can also find the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO site, populated with a large diversity of flowering plants not found anywhere else in the fynbos kingdom. The region also includes Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa!

Many quaint and interesting towns dot this hilly countryside enclosed by mountains and the ocean. The area is perfectly suited to a quiet breakaway from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far from Cape Town. Come and join us and Visit Overberg!
